Global hiring at Accenture has been highly variable over the past few months. Hiring in the UK has essentially paused except for a few essential roles, US hiring is stable, and hiring in India is growing rapidly. We will be focussing on the Indian market for this analysis. Accenture has continued to increase its hiring and it is now recruiting close to 3,000 roles. So what are the key hiring trends? Let’s take a look below.
Skills and Knowledge (Top 10)
There is a distinct focus on Security (Cyber) and Cloud for Accenture. These two areas are considered ‘high-growth’ for the major Professional Services firms, including the Big 4. In addition to these two areas, Analytics skills are in particularly high demand. Accenture has a service line solely dedicated to Analytics with large recruiting identified in the area of Predictive Analytics. It is likely that hiring in this area will increase significantly as the popularity of machine learning increases. The other skills on this list, such as Agile and Service Delivery, are more general and refer to Accenture’s systems integration specialism.
Technology (Top 5)
Azure and AWS are the two largest technology areas for Accenture. This is likely due to the firm’s hiring focus on Cloud and Security. As per our analysis of the other Professional Services firms, knowledge of Azure is in higher demand than AWS. This may be a sign that companies planning to migrate to Cloud are choosing Azure over AWS as their Cloud vendor. We think that this could be due to companies using their existing relationships with Microsoft to secure a strong deal on Azure. Outside of the Cloud providers, there is a high demand for Windows Server administration skills and knowledge of the two major database vendors, SAP and Oracle. As most database installations are unlikely to migrate to Cloud in the near future, we expect this demand to remain stable.
Qualifications (Top 10)
The demand for qualifications is not high considering the large number of available roles. An ITIL qualification is essential for most IT professionals and it is understandably at the top of the list. An MBA is a requirement for Accenture’s Strategy department but it also covers additional service lines such as Accenture’s Digital and Solution Architecting offerings. Two project management qualifications (APM and Prince2) also make the list. Outside of technology, Accenture has a financial services line that requires Chartered Accountants (CAs). This service line may be suitable for any CAs who prefer to work for a more technology orientated company.
Coding Languages (Top 5)
Java remains the most popular coding language for Enterprise Infrastructures and we expect this trend to continue in the short-term. Over time, however, it is likely that Python will take top spot in the list due to its increased use within Analytics. The requirement for PowerShell knowledge is linked to Accenture’s demand for Azure and Windows specialists. As with Python, we expect demand for this coding language to increase as additional enterprise applications are deployed to Azure.
That’s a wrap for Accenture India. A large number of roles are available, with Cloud and Security skills in high demand. We expect the hiring trends identified to grow further as we begin to move out of this difficult period. If you are looking for a new role, upskilling in a few of the technical skills identified is a good way to become a more visible candidate.
Feel free to reach out if you have any feedback :).
Until next time, Nathan
